Themed around Body & Form, this third issue of MILKED was in part a response to the art historical topic of The Female Nude, existing as a reorientation of the historic gaze simply by filtering that gaze through the eyes of the female artist. Our featuring artists explore the physicality of the maternal body, as well as our relationship between our body & our homes, the tension between the nurturing nature & the sexual nature within a mother, material, consumption and much more. This issue included an Editor’s letter, and 64 pages of artwork by 12 female contemporary artists.
There are still a few copies left of this issue, available in our shop!
Themed around The Portrait, this second volume of MILKED aimed to reveal a narrative of "A Portrait of the Artist as a Young [Mother]". While exploring the many layers to that notion, this issue included an Editor's letter, an interview with Japanese artist/mother Adama C. Turay conducted by cover artist Mequitta Ahuja, and art works by artist such as Amy Reidel, Cindy Rizza, Lauren McLaughlin, among many more.

MILKED Issue One offered a broad, voluminous stroke of motherhood, questioning, “Does contemporary art ever talk about the thin line of identity between the maternal being and the being that came out of her? Is anyone talking about the tearing felt between Mother and first-born when the second-born comes along? What of the bodily expansion and spiritual transcendence of birth, the stretching and thinning? What of death? What of the portrait? What of form or weight? And most of all, how can we lessen the words and take a posture of looking?”

Issue One of our digital digest and production of MILKED magazine, PINT. Featuring Steffi Drerup and Colleen Merrill, this first issue examines the maternal figure’s role in society - chosen or placed.
“Which generational ideas do we consider tokens of health and truth, and which do we throw out with that frozen bed sheet in Drerup’s image?”
