MILKED No.4, Chelsea Gibson
With MILKED, we are perpetually interested in asking what pre-existing themes within art history would look like when filtered through the maternal lens. This fourth issue of MILKED, simply titled The Interior, aims to broadly capture questions of relationship. How can spatial relationship speak to the brevity of human life and our need to make sense of home? When curating the collection of work, ideas of memory, struggle, loss, the table, pattern and vulnerability all wove themselves as strong threads.
In this issue, you’ll find:
Work by our 12 curatorial artists:
Chelsea Gibson, Polina Barskaya (courtesy of Monya Rowe Gallery), Madeline Stratton, Sarah Arriagada, Sarah Sudhoff, Heather Evans Smith, Rebecca Oh, Raisa Nosova, Erin Fostel, Anna Sibylla, Sarah Irvin (courtesy of Massey Klein Gallery), and Shweta Bist
Our new MILK HOUR interviews: a spin off the idea of playdates and coffee hour. Taking the form of short-style interviews with local DMV artist-mamas:
LaToya Hobbs, Anne Hubbard Hill, and Mandy Cooper
A newspaper insert of our newly PRINTED version of PINT! Our digest that takes a deep dive into the series-based work of two artists:
